About KCET 2026

The Karnataka Common Entrance Test, also known as KCET or KEA UGCET, is a state-level entrance examination conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority every year. The exam is held to determine eligibility and merit for admission to the first year of undergraduate professional courses in Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Veterinary, and other programmes offered by government, aided, and unaided institutions across Karnataka.

For 2026, the exam covers four subject papers: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology. Each paper carries 60 marks with 60 objective-type questions, and there is no negative marking. The merit rank for Engineering admissions is prepared by giving equal weightage to the CET score and marks in the qualifying examination, that is, 2nd PUC or Class 12. Candidates who do not clear the KCET written exam can still access NEET-based admissions for medical and dental courses through KEA counselling.

KCET 2026 Exam Pattern

Exam mode is offline (pen and paper, OMR sheet based). Each correct answer earns 1 mark. There is no negative marking for wrong answers or unattempted questions. Candidates appearing for Engineering must take Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Those applying for Biology-based courses take Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
